GROWN NOT FLOWN…

Our Flowers

For hundreds of years, farmers have worked this land—ploughing its fields, sowing seed, tending the soil and harvesting the fruits of their labour through the changing seasons. There is something deeply grounding in that cycle of planting, nurturing and growing, and it is from that same spirit that Sanctuary Flowers was born.

When the seed of Sanctuary Flowers first germinated in our minds, we knew we wanted to create something truly rooted in the land—a flower farm built on care, craftsmanship and seasonality, rather than relying on blooms flown in from across the globe. We wanted our flowers to tell a story of place; of East Devon soil, fresh country air, changing skies and the quiet magic that comes from growing something with patience and purpose.

From the very beginning, we have lovingly raised almost every variety of cut flower you see here from seed ourselves—sowing, potting on, pinching out, nurturing and finally planting each stem by hand. Every bloom has been carefully tended through its journey, from tiny seedling to beautiful flower, ready to be gathered and arranged. For the varieties we do bring in—such as our dahlias, peonies and roses—we are proud to source exclusively from fellow UK growers who share our commitment to quality, sustainability and homegrown beauty.

At Sanctuary Flowers, our passion is simple: to offer our customers beautiful, abundant arrangements that have been grown with love, from seed to stem, here on our East Devon land. Flowers that are seasonal, naturally beautiful and deeply connected to the landscape they come from. Flowers with a sense of place, grown slowly and thoughtfully, just as nature intended.

Because we believe the loveliest flowers are not those that have travelled the furthest—but those grown closest to home, with care in every petal.

Sanctuary Flowers sits within the wider Froginwell Estate, alongside two other flourishing businesses—Froginwell Vineyard, a beautiful and unique wedding and events venue, and Sanctuary Sleeps, a collection of thoughtfully designed holiday and wedding accommodation.

As each part of the estate operates independently, Sanctuary Flowers and the CoffeeBox are open to the public on Sundays and Mondays, 10am–3pm, from May through to October.

FROM SEED TO BLOOM…

Pick your own blooms

When we first dreamed up Sanctuary Flowers, our original plan was simple: our team would carefully cut and curate every bouquet by hand. But the more we thought about it, the more we realised… where’s the fun in that?

Flowers are meant to be experienced—to be wandered amongst, admired up close, chosen thoughtfully and gathered with joy. And so, with a wonderfully speedy change of plan, our Pick Your Own patch was born.Simply grab a bucket and a pair of snips, follow our gentle picking guidelines, and set off to roam through the blooms, hand-selecting the stems that catch your eye.

Whether you’re drawn to delicate petals, wild textures or armfuls of bold, joyful colour, every bunch becomes a personal creation—curated entirely by you.

Once you’ve gathered your chosen stems, we can wrap them in paper for you to take home, or, for just £1, you can purchase one of our buckets to transport your flowers home in water, keeping them fresh, happy and looking their very best.

A little slice of flower-filled happiness—and one of life’s simple pleasures.

Happy picking 🌸
